The coding program fulfills the American Academy of Professional Coders' requirements for program content and length. It is a total of 100 hours (only 80 hours are required) by the AAPC. This course includes hands-on practical experience, preparing each student to become a professional coder by stepping them through coding, medical terminology, and anatomy. Each student will be given a textbook that is created with classroom assignments, examples, and guidelines. There will be quizzes and exercises for each chapter that is covered. There will also be a mid-term, final exam, and review that will help you prepare for the exam. 

Course Description:  

This is a 100 hour course that is taught using the AAPC’s CPC Curriculum. This course will take you through the entire CPC, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding books, along with medical terminology and anatomy. You will walk away after this course with the knowledge that is needed to sit for this 5 hour/40 minute proficiency coding exam, given by the AAPC.

Educational Objective: 

The student will complete this 16 week/100 hour program that will educate them in the field of medical coding. After completion of the class, with a C average, the student will be eligible to sit for their CPC (Certified Proficiency Exam). After passing the exam, they will become a CPC-A. The “A” is an apprenticeship.  After working in coding or billing for a year, the student will then be eligible to have the “A” removed from their credential. 

With this curriculum, you will be able to become a professional medical coder and be on your way to a rewarding career. After this four-month class, you will be eligible to sit for the National AAPC Exam to obtain your CPC certification.

50% of the student's grade is based on exams

HOURS:

Classes are held every Monday & Thursday Night between 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Every Wednesday Night from 6:00 – 7:00 pm (are optional Question & Answer night with a qualified instructor)

Personal one-on-one instruction with an instructor can be scheduled upon request.

REFUND POLICY:

    Less than 25% of class attendance = 75% refund of total tuition

    25 % up to but less than 50% of class attendance  = 50% refund of total tuition

    50% up to but less than 75% of class attendance = 25% refund of total tuition

    75% or more = No refund
